The Florida Atlantic University men's golf team has set course for a challenging 2010-11 campaign, featuring eight tournaments and the program's popular Spring Break Championship. The schedule is considered the most ambitious in the five seasons that Angelo Sands has served as the Owls' head men's golf coach.
"One of my goals when I took over the program was to increase our strength of schedule," Sands said. "This year's schedule will be the toughest we've ever faced." The Owls will play four tournaments during the fall portion of the season, highlighted by an event being hosted by Northwestern University on Sunday, September 26 and Monday, September 27 at the Skokie Country Club near Chicago.
The fall campaign also will have FAU playing in the Xavier Invitational in Fort Myers on Sunday, October 3 and Monday, October 4, defending its Bethune Cookman University tournament title from Friday, October 29 through Sunday, October 31, and at the Stetson University Tournament on Monday, November 8 and Tuesday, November 9. The Spring Break Championship taking place from Friday, March 25 through Sunday, March 27, 2011 highlights a busy spring for FAU. In its third year, the tournament has quickly earned a national reputation, hosting several quality NCAA Division I teams from throughout the country.
"Hosting our tournament has firmly established FAU on the collegiate golf map and helped us get into other quality tournaments," said Sands. "Being around these talented players and teams will help us improve throughout the season."
