The Florida Atlantic University men's golf team continues to receive national recognition, earning votes from coaches throughout the nation in the latest Golf World/Nike Division I Coaches poll and ranking 85th in the country in this week's Golfweek magazine national poll.
The Owls have been consistently ranked among the nation's top 100 collegiate teams in the Golfweek poll, placing as high as No. 77.
FAU posted six top-five finishes during the 2009-10 season, highlighted by a first-place finish in the Bethune Cookman Tournament. The team also posted a strong fifth place at its own Spring Break Championship, picking up the only win against a top 50-ranked team, the University of Michigan.
Senior Ben Silverman led the team this past season with a 72.6 scoring average. He was named the Sun Belt Conference's Male Golfer of the Month during the fall portion of the season. Sophomore Carl McCauley compiled a 74 scoring average and junior Kelly McHugh had a 74.5 average in 26 rounds.
