MONROE, LA - The FAU women's basketball team dropped their Sun Belt opener 83-63 at ULM on Wednesday night from Fant-Ewing Coliseum.
"We need to be better on both sides of the ball," said head coach Chancellor Dugan. "It was nice to see us comeback from the big deficit in the first half but we couldn't carry over the momentum."
The Warhawks (7-6, 1-0) jumped out to a 30-13 lead with 7 minutes to go in the first half. However, FAU closed the first period on a 17-6 run and trailed at the half 36-30 after 10 first-half points from Breana Turner.
The Owls (3-9, 0-1) could not sustain that momentum out of halftime locker room as ULM outscored FAU 47-33 in the second period.
Turner continued her strong offensive performance and finished the contest with a game-high 21 points. The junior has now scored 54 points in her last three games.
Viviana Penate and DaLita Scott also had strong games for FAU. Penate scored 10 points and went 6-of-6 from the free-throw line while Scott added 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
FAU continues its Sun Belt opening road trip this Sunday at Troy. Tip-off is scheduled for 5 p.m. eastern from the Trojan Arena. The game will be televised live on the Sun Belt Network. Live audio of the game will also be available on www.fausports.com.
