Owls Earn WBCA Academic Team Special Mention Recognition

BOCA RATON, Fla. – Florida Atlantic women's basketball was recognized for its work in the classroom, earning Special Mention honors in the 2025-26 Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) Academic Top 25 Team Honor Roll.
"Our players did an amazing job staying focused on their academics throughout the season," expressed head coach LeAnn Freeland. "We challenged them to leave their mark at FAU in all ways, and I'm excited to see that their intense focus and hard work were rewarded with one of the best team GPAs in over a decade. I am very proud of the 2025-26 squad for this recognition and know this will inspire our current roster to reach even higher in the classroom this next season!"
The Owls posted a combined team GPA of 3.459 during the 2025-26 school year, the highest on record since the 2016-17 season.
The WBCA Academic Top 25 recognizes college women's basketball teams across the nation in their respective divisions that carry the highest combined GPAs, inclusive of all student-athletes on their rosters, for the entire season. A team must have a combined GPA of 3.0 or better and be nominated by its head coach, who must be a member of the WBCA, to be recognized. The 2025-26 season is the 31st in which the WBCA has compiled the honor rolls.
