Feil Wins Second Straight Event Title

DELAND, FL - Friederike Feil won the women's 5K for the second consecutive week, this time at the Stetson Hatter Invitational in a school record time of 17:33.
Feil broke her own record, which she set more than two years ago, by more than two seconds. Her performance helped the Owls' women's team to second place out of the 14 teams at the event.The team was without the services of Rebecca Hallam, who got some extra rest in advance of Sun Belt Championships. Lindsay Lucas (18:57) gave FAU two runners in the top-10 with her sixth place finish.
Lisa-Marie Leutner (19:22) finished in 12th place, followed by Helen Mann (19:39/17th) and Katie Quick (19:50/24th) to wrap up the scoring performances for the women. Vanessa Penates (20:15/33rd), Deanna Loafman (20:35/39th) and Emily Seymore (21:47/64th) were the rest of the competitors for the Owls. Ingrid Zelaya, Sarah Veazey and Michelle Futch ran as unattached athletes.
The men finished third out of 14 teams at the meet. Josh Wolfe was once again the high male finisher for FAU, finishing 6th in 26:21. Ryan Toledo was the FAU's next best finisher, placing 12th in 26:43. Ryan Davis (27:15/19th) was followed closely by teammates Michael Neel (27:32/24th) and Jordan Dopkins (27:33/25th) to round out the scoring for the men. Eric Kessler (28:09/34th), Neil Coffman (28:43/44th) and Mohammed Razib (30:18/60th) also represented FAU at the meet.
The Owls will take some time off before heading to the Sun Belt Championships on October 30, in Bowling Green, KY.
