Women's Soccer Falls to Regionally Ranked North Texas

Denton, Tex. - Scoring four first half goals regionally ranked University of North Texas coasted to a 5-0 victory over the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team on Sunday afternoon in Denton, Tex.
The Owls still remain in contention for a postseason berth in the Sun Belt Conference tournament with a 3-5 league record. FAU will have two of its final three matches at home. Meanwhile, North Texas improves to 11-5-1 on the season and 6-2 in Sun Belt Conference action.
The Mean Green got the scoring started in the 10th minute with a goal by Kelsey Hodges. North Texas found the back of the net just a minute later when Loreli Ramsey scored on a shot from 30 yards out. Michelle Young scored in the 20th minute to give the team a 3-0 advantage. North Texas' Dani Watson rounded out the scoring in the opening half. Young would cap the scoring in the 57th minute for her second goal of the match.
FAU freshman Alexandra Major tallied two of the team's four shots in the match. Freshman Allyson Buerosse and sophomore Jamie Greany also had a shot for the Owls.
Florida Atlantic will return to the pitch on Thursday, October 21 when it hosts the University of Louisiana-Lafayette at 7 p.m. The match will be featured as part of the athletic department's "20 Sports - One Team" activity at the FAU Soccer Stadium, 777 Glades Road on the Boca Raton campus.
