BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's football team hit the practice fields for the rare Saturday afternoon practice taking advantage of an extra few days to prepare for Arkansas State University.
"We started preparation for Arkansas State, today," said Howard Schnellenberger, FAU's head football coach. "We didn't get into tendencies yet but will have all the numbers and do that early next week."
Practice began with individual work in fact several players hit the field early for extra work. The squad then moved into 7-on-7 with the ones facing twos on the respective offensive and defensive fields. Byron Hankerson had an acrobatic catch on the far side of the field during 7-on-7 while Darian Williams had a nice reception from David Kooi. Kooi was also intercepted by freshman Christen Milstead, who came back for the ball.
The bulk of the day's work was held on the defensive field where the two units combined for team work. Rob Housler beat his defender down the middle for long yardage and Lester Jean maintained concentration to hold onto a juggled ball.
FAU will return to the practice field 2 p.m. Sunday and will have Monday off. Practices are free and open to the public.
