Mike Albaladejo hangs on to slim Iron Owl lead

BOCA RATON, FL - As the final days of summer have come and gone, the Iron Owl event is heating up as upstart newcomer Mike Albaladejo and veteran Lou Morey battle it out for the top spot.
After the fourth event was held on Friday, Albaladejo still holds a five point advantage, but Morey is not far behind after winning the 880m race with a blistering time of 2:07. Albaladejo finished fourth in the event with a time of 2:28.
The award indentifies the strongest Owl baseball player - both mentally and physically. A series of events will be held throughout the fall season that will test each student-athletes' physical strength, knowledge of the game and academic performance.
Each event and category will be graded and a running total of each player's rank is kept by the FAU coaching staff.
The `Iron Owl' competition was debuted prior to the 2009 preseason. Its goal is the encouragement of team camaraderie, while at the same time making sure each individual player understands what is like to compete on a daily basis. It is our aim that each player reaches their highest-potential in the weight room, on the field and in the classroom.
This year's winner will be offically crowned during the Owls 2010 home opener.
