BOCA RATON, FL - The University of South Alabama salvaged a game of its three-game Sun Belt Conference series with Florida Atlantic University, winning 9-3 Sunday.

Florida Atlantic (17-11; 6-8 Sun Belt) had won one-run decisions against USA Friday and Saturday. The Owls will next play at the University of Miami Tuesday night at 6 p.m.

South Alabama (12-17; 3-9 Sun Belt) won for just the third time in 15 tries on the road. Lefty starter Brandon Sage threw 151 pitches in a complete-game seven-hitter to earn the win.

The Jaguars needed just five RBI to plate nine runs in six innings, including scoring six times in the sixth to break open a tight game.

David Wilson hit a solo homer in the third and his RBI double in the fifth cut the lead to 3-2 before USA's six-run sixth. FAU starter Adam Morrison factored into his first decision of the year, a loss which dropped him to 0-1.

USA took advantage of three fielding errors, a catcher's interference and two wild pitches to build a 9-2 lead. The Owls would finish the afternoon with five errors.

Adam Heisler had three of the Jaguars' 12 hits and David Doss added a double, his 12th.

Mike Albaladejo made his third straight start behind the plate and went 2-for-3 with a pair of singles. Nick DelGuidice doubled and joined Albaladejo and Wilson with a two-hit afternoon. The trio accounted for six of FAU's seven hits off Sage.

GAME NOTES: USA SS Derek O'Reilly's diving stop and throw robbed 1B Travis Ozga (.361 BA) of a hit in the fifth and Ozga's hit-streak would come to an end at 19 games (5 shy of an FAU record)... For the second straight day every USA starter had a hit... RH William Block moved from second base to the mound to make his third pitching appearance of the year, working a flawless ninth.
