BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University football team practiced for three hours at Oxley Field in preparation for tomorrows scrimmage.
The defense showed continued progress and physicality. Defensive ends Kevin Cyrille and Jamere Johnson caused disruptions for the offensive line throughout practice. At defensive back Darian Thomas made several outstanding knockdowns and also intercepted a pass and took it back for a touchdown. Freshman Marcus Bartels made a vicious hit from his safety spot that jarred the ball loose and caused the receiver to fumble. On offense, tight end Jason Harmon showed his athleticism off with a one-handed leaping grab in the end zone.
In attendance as a spectator was former University of Miami quarterback Bernie Kosar. Under the tutelage of Howard Schnellenberger, Kosar led Miami to a national title in 1983.p> FAU will be back on the practice field for their second scrimmage of the spring. The scrimmage will start at 12:30 p.m. at Oxley Field and is open to the public.
