Women's Tennis Takes MTSU 5-2

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University senior Danielle Simone captured her singles match at no. 6 to clinch the match in FAU's 5-2 victory over Middle Tennessee State University 5-2.
The Owls (5-8) opened the match by winning the doubles point. The duo of Natalia Totevska and Dominique Wimmer defeated Marelene Chemin and Marietta Bigus at no. 1 doubles 8-5. FAU captured no. 2 double with Dainelle Simone and Erika Mrazkova defeating Natalie Araya and Taylor Coffey 8-6. FAU dropped no. 3 doubles after the point was secured.
The two teams returned to the court with MTSU evening the match at 1 following a singles loss at no. 4 and took a one point advantage with a victory at no. 5. FAU then rattled off the remaining four points with Natalia Totevska winning at no. 1, 6-1, 6-4. Dominique Wimmer was a 6-4, 6-4 winner at no. 3. Simone then turned in her victory for the FAU win and Erika Mrazkova closed out the match at no. 2 with a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 win.
While MTSU is a Sun Belt Conference member the match does not count towards a conference recorded. FAU will next play host to Boston College, 1 p.m., Saturday, March 7 at the Patch Reef Tennis Center.
