Four FAU Swimmers Compete at the FGC Open

BOCA RATON, FL- Four Florida Atlantic University freshmen swimmers that did not participate in last weekend's Sun Belt Conference Championship Meet competed at the Florida Gulf Coast Invitational in Coral Spring, FL.
Michael Czupryna, Jennifer Garland, Andres Romero and Cody Wagner all produced their top times in every event they swam. Czupryna competed in four events, the 100 butterfly (54.77), 200 butterfly (1:59.22), 200 IM (2:00.42), and the 400 IM (4:21.21). Over the four events, Czupryna took a combined 21 seconds off his personal bests. Garland competed in the 100 (1:01.56) and 200 butterfly (2:14.67), slicing six seconds off her personal bests in the two events. Wagner swam the 50 (21.48) and 100 freestyle (47.91). Romero took nearly four seconds off his 200 IM time (2:07.05).
FAU's regular season schedule is complete, but several Owls will continue to train. Senior Lauren Harvath will head to the 2009 NCAA Zone B Diving Championships on March 13-15 in Knoxville, Tennessee with a shot to qualify for the national meet.
