FAU Men's Golf Wins Dual with Rutgers

BOCA RATON, FL (March 16, 2009) - The Florida Atlantic University men's golf team (293) won the dual meet with the Rutgers University (309). The dual was held at The Fountains Country Club (6,783 Yards/ PAR 71) in Lake Worth.

The performance marked FAU's third dual meet victory of the last two weeks. Sophomore Kelly McHugh (70) also nabbed his third victory in two weeks, hitting one under par. Senior Will Cottle hit a solid 73 over the 18 holes, tying for second. Justin Thompson (75), Sterling Searcy Jr. (75) and Ben Silverman (77) were FAU's other scorers.

Six Owls competed as individuals, meaning they did not score for the team. Amit Odaiyar was the top individual and tied for fourth overall at 75 strokes.

FAU will next host the first annual FAU Spring Break Championships held at Gleneagles Country Club in Delray Beach on March 27-29. The tournament will showcase 14 teams from six conferences and some of the best teams and players in the country.
