FAU Men's Tennis Upends St. John's 5-2

BOCA RATON, FL - Florida Atlantic University's men's tennis team (11-4) continues to set the tone of its matches in doubles play and did so again by sweeping the doubles matches, building the matches momentum and taking the St. John's University match 5-2.
On the season the Owls have captured 11 of the 14 doubles match points and they are led by the no. 49 ranked duo of Eddie Majcher and Marc Abdelnour who is 10-1 on the year.
FAU, ranked no. 77 nationally, built off the doubles point by picking up a quick point at no. 1 singles with a 6-0, 6-1 win by Marc Abdelnour. Abdelnour moved to 15-0 on the dual match season with the win.
Joshua Scholl moved the match to 3-0 with a win at no. 4 singles. St. John's picked up its first point at no. 5 singles before the Owls clinched the match with a 7-5, 6-4 win by Santiago Nieto, at no. 6.
As the match continued Joshua Scholl picked up the team's fifth and final point at no. 4 while St. John's captured a point at no. 2 for the 5-2 final. FAU will next play USF in Tampa. USF is currently ranked no. 50.
"I'm proud of the team that turned in a good effort," said Brandon Stokes, FAU's head coach. "We are excited about the opportunity to play USF on Sunday."
