BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University was unable to complete a sweep of Day One at the Parents' Weekend Tournament, falling to Texas A&M 5-2 after defeating Liberty 7-5 in 12 innings earlier in the day.
Ashlyn Parmerter's (Winter Haven, FL/Winter Haven) RBI triple proved crucial in FAU's 7-5 12-inning win over Liberty on Friday. Parmerter hit came in the top of the 12th and drove in Cari Curfman (Valrico, FL/Durant HS) for what proved to be the winning run. Parmerter later scored on a Flame error.
Rose Gressley (Virginia Beach, VA/Green Run HS) pitched six innings in relief to take the win.
The Owls lost to no. 19 Texas A&M 5-2 in the final game of the day. FAU trailed 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth when Blair Bodenmiller hit a two-run shot to left center to cut the deficit in half. FAU loaded the bases in the fifth inning, but was unable to score.
FAU will continue action in the Parents' Weekend Tournament on Saturday when they face Rutgers. The game starts at 6 p.m. and live stats of the game will be available via GameTracker at www.fausports.com.
