BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team fell to split its two games on the second day of the FAU Kick-Off Classic.
In the first game of the day, FAU got out to an early 2-0 lead in the second when two Wolverine errors led to two FAU runs. The lead was cut in half in the third when a Bree Evans sacrifice fly scored Stephanie Kirkpatrick.
Michigan scored four runs in the fourth inning to take 5-1 lead. The Owls threatened in the bottom of the inning but could not capitalize. A Dorian Shaw solo homerun provided the final margin of victory.
The Owls defeated Pittsburgh in the final game of Day 2 at the FAU Kick-Off Classic, 3-1. Christine Houghtaling scored on a Panther throwing error to give FAU a 1-0 lead in the second inning. Caitlyn Bliss added to the lead in the third when she doubled home Ambar Jones.
Pittsburgh got on the board in the fifth when a passed ball allowed a run to score. The Owls added an insurance run in the seventh when Jones drove in Ashlyn Parmerter when a base hit. Freshman Carrie Ann Potter threw a complete game three-hitter in her first career start.
FAU will face Long Island tomorrow at 1 p.m. in the final game of the FAU Kick-Off Classic. Live stats will be available via GameTracker at fausports.com.
