Owls Hold Off Razorbacks, Fall to Tigers

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team split its two games on day one of the Strike Out Cancer Tournament.
The Owls managed just three hits, but were able to defeat Arkansas 2-1 on the strength of a complete game five-hitter by Kathryn Stauffer. FAU scored a run in both the first and second innings and used a stingy defensive effort to take the win.
In the nightcap, FAU lost to Missouri 9-1 in six innings. Christine Houghtaling went 2-for-2 at the plate in the game.
The FAU softball team (7-5) resumes action in the tournament on Saturday when they face Arkansas and Fordham at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. respectively.
