Florida Atlantic University's athletics department will host a special ceremony for the 2008 Motor City Bowl Champion FAU Owls on Friday, February 6 at 5 p.m. in the FAU Arena, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus. The event is free and open to the public.
FAU Football Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger, FAU football players, local dignitaries, Sun Belt Conference (SBC) officials, as well as the FAU band, cheerleaders and dance team will be on hand to help celebrate the team's unveiling of the 2008 Motor City Bowl banner. The 2008 season-highlight video also will be shown in honor of the team's 7-6 season.
The Owls concluded the 2008 football season with a 24-21 win over Central Michigan University in the 2008 Motor City Bowl in Detroit, Michigan. The win helped the Owls become the first SBC team to win bowl games in back-to-back seasons.
At the event, Schnellenberger and the FAU football coaching staff will announce the latest football players who have signed a National Letter of Intent to play for FAU. Free posters will be available and FAU merchandise also will be on sale.
Following the bowl celebration, Schnellenberger and select FAU football players will be on hand to sign autographs at the FAU softball team's season-opening doubleheader against The University of Massachusetts and the University of Maryland at the FAU Softball Complex beginning at 6 p.m.
Fans who attend both the Motor City Bowl celebration and the two softball games will receive an FAU commemorative DVD.
