The Florida Atlantic University football team began preparations today for next Tuesday's game at Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU). The game in Murfreesboro, TN will be the first Sun Belt Conference game for FAU since winning the conference title last year. The game is scheduled to air on ESPN 2.
The Owls are making waves on several national charts. Senior linebacker Frantz Joseph is averaging 13.5 tackles per game, which ranks second in the nation. Joseph has been consistent through the first four games, with 10 plus tackles in every game including a career high 16 tackles against the University of Alabama at Birmingham. On the offensive side of the ball, the offensive line is giving up an average of .25 sacks per game, ranked fifth best nationally. The FAU offensive line gave up its' first sack of the season against the University of Minnesota in the fourth quarter of last week's game. It was the first sack given up by the Owl's offensive line in 17 quarters, dating back to the first half of last year's New Orleans Bowl.
After the conference game against MTSU, Florida Atlantic returns home to face Sun Belt power Troy University at Lockhart Stadium on Tuesday, October 7 at 8 p.m. The game against Troy University is also scheduled to air on ESPN 2. For more information on tickets call 1-866-FAU-OWLS.
