FAU Tames Golden Panthers 8-2

MIAMI, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team defeated Florida International 8-2 on Friday night. It is the seventh win in a row for the Owls and the 10th straight regular season victory over Florida International.
The Golden Panthers scored in the bottom of the first inning on a Kerri Croney throwing error. FAU tied the game in the top of the second inning on Amy Bukovich's RBI double. The Golden Panthers retook the lead 2-1 on a single to right field, but Becky Brandies threw out Amanda Cox, who was trying to score from second on the play.
The Owls tied the game in the top of the fourth inning on another RBI double, this time by Brandies to even the score 2-2. FAU took their first lead of the game in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI double by Croney that drove in Crandall and gave the Owls a 3-2 advantage.
FAU was able to pad its lead in the top of the seventh inning, scoring five runs with both Brandies and Blair Bodenmiller providing two-run hits in the inning to push the Owls' to 8-2.
Rose Gressley went the distance to pick up her 16th win of the season. The two teams will meet on Saturday in Boca Raton at 6 p.m. Melissa Moore and Lauren Crandall will be honored in a pregame ceremony. Live stats and play-by-play of the game will be available at fausports.com.
