BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic (27-19, 9-3 Sun Belt) softball team took the deciding game of a three-game set against Troy 2-1 in 11 innings.
Troy took a 1-0 lead in the top of the third inning on a solo homerun by Heidi Johnson.
The Owls tied the game in the fourth inning when they used three Trojan errors to score, however, Lauren Crandall was called out at third on a play that drew argument from the FAU coaching staff.
Both teams threatened on numerous occasions, but neither could push a run across in regulation. In the bottom of the 11th inning, Crandall came up to the plate with the bases loaded and lifted a ball into left field to drive in Blair Bodenmiller and give the Owls a 2-1 win.
FAU will travel to Miami to face rival Florida International on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Live stats and play-by-play will be available at fausports.com.
