BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic (28-19, 10-3 Sun Belt) softball team defeated Florida International 7-4 on Wednesday night.
FAU took a 2-0 lead in the first inning when Lauren Crandall singled down the left field line to drive in Caitlyn Bliss and Rose Gressley. The Golden Panthers scored three runs in the bottom of the first to take a 3-2 lead.
The Owls still trailed 3-2 in the fifth inning when a Melissa Moore double drove in Amy Bukovich and Kerri Croney to give FAU the lead, 4-3. Moore scored later in the inning on a Golden Panther fielding error. The Golden Panthers scored cut the margin to 5-4 in the bottom of the fifth inning. Amber Barton pitched the final three innings for her second save of the season and slapped a two-run double that provided the final margin of victory.
The Owls will take the weekend off before traveling to Louisiana to take on ULM and Louisiana-Lafayette on a six-game road trip. They face the ULM on Wednesday, April 16 at 8 p.m. Live stats and live play-by-play will be available on fausports.com.
