BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team (31-22, 13-6 Sun Belt) completed a sweep of its three-game sweep of Lousiana-Monroe with a 4-1 win on Sunday.
The Owls took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Becky Brandies drove in Caitlyn Bliss on a single down the left field line. Megan Miller tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a solo homerun to left field. Brandies gave FAU the lead for good in the sixth inning when she had another RBI single, this one to center field, that drove in Lauren Crandall and gave the Owls a 2-1 lead.
FAU added two runs in the seventh inning. The first came on a play when Jessica Myers scored on a Melissa Moore bunt that rolled into foul territory. Myers slid safely into home after Moore was tagged out after being caught in a rundown. The ruling at the plate resulted in the ejection of ULM head coach Rosemary Holloway-Hill. FAU added another run on a second close play at home when Amber Barton scored from first on a Bliss double.
FAU will return home to host Middle Tennessee on Saturday, April 27 in a doubleheader that starts at 6 p.m. Live stats and play-by-play will be available at fausports.com.
