Owls Take Two From Warhawks

BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic softball team rebounded from a sweep against Lousiana-Lafayette with a sweep of its own over Louisiana-Monroe on Saturday.
In game one, ULM struck first in the bottom of the third when Brianna Love hit a solo homerun to left field to give the Warhawks a 1-0 lead. They added another run in the second inning on a Blair Bodenmiller error to take a 2-0 lead. The Owls (30-22, 12-6 Sun Belt) took the lead in the fifth inning when Amy Bukovich homered to left to give FAU a 3-2 lead. Lauren Crandall hit a three-run shot in the sixth inning to make the score 6-2 in FAU's favor.
ULM (17-29, 2-10) scored a run in the seventh, but was unable to draw any closer. Amber Barton went the distance for her 16th win of the season.
In the nightcap, FAU scored three runs in the first inning, two on an RBI single by Melissa Moore to seize control early in the game. ULM cut the lead to 3-1 in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Warhawks were threatening in the sixth inning when, with runners on second and third and one out when Calli Baker singled. Elyse Stark tried to score from second on the play, but was cut down on an outstanding throw by center fielder Jessica Myers to keep the score 3-1.
Myers' play gained even more importance when Brianna Love hit her second solo homerun of the day to cut the score to 3-2. Amber Barton, who pitched the seventh inning, retired the side to pick up her third save of the season. The Owls will look to complete the series sweep tomorrow when they play the Warhawks at 1 p.m. eastern. Live stats and play-by-play of the game will be available at fausports.com.
