A grand slam by Daniel Cook highlighted a seven-run sixth inning for Florida Atlantic University as the team defeated Mount St. Mary's University 13-5 on Wednesday night in Boca Raton, FL.
After the teams combined for five runs in the first inning, the pitchers took over for the next three innings. The Owls (1-3) then exploded for 10 runs in the next fifth and sixth innings.
Travis Ozga and David Wilson both finished with three RBI. Ozga's came in the first inning on a three-run homer that went off the top of the scoreboard in right field. Wilson's three RBI accounted for the remaining three runs in the sixth inning on a bases loaded double to centerfield.
Freshman Glen Troyanowski made his first collegiate start and earned the win. He worked five innings and allowed two runs on three hits and struck out eight.
Brett Moore suffered the loss for the Mountaineers (0-2) after working 4 1/3 innings and allowing six runs on four hits.
FAU returns to action on Thursday night in the start of a four-game series with Eastern Michigan. Game time is slated for 6:30 p.m.
