FAU Swimming and Diving Hosts First Meet

The Florida Atlantic University men's and women's swimming and dive team competed in their first meet today against Georgia Tech University and Florida Gulf Coast University at FAU pool. Although the FAU men or women did not win the meet, many Owls turned in strong performances.
For the men, Csaba Pek led the way with three event wins in the 400 Yard IM (4:02.20), 200 Yard Backstroke (1:50.19), and the 100 Yard Backstroke (51.16). Winning two of the long distance events was Rick Duran in the 1,000 Yard Freestyle (9:44.41) and the 500 Yard Freestyle (4:45.38). Mikolaj Czarnecki won the 100 Yard Fly (51.01), after teaming earlier in the meet with Chris Cruts to register a 2-3 finish in the 200 Yard Butterfly.
On the women's side Jonna Nyback swam well in her double with second place finishes in the 100 Yard Freestyle (53.55) and 200 Yard Freestyle (1:53.10). Lindsey Alexander finished second in the 100 Yard Backstroke (58.54). Jennifer Forcht finished 3rd in the 50 Yard Freestyle (24.92) as did Lauren Harvath in the 3 Meter Dive (222.90).
The FAU swim and dive team will be back in action at home on Friday, October 3rd at 5 p.m. against Florida State University and Florida International. FAU pool is located at 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton campus.
