MONROE, LA - Trailing by three goals in the first half, Florida Atlantic University rallied to beat the University of Louisiana-Monroe 4-3 Friday night at the ULM Soccer Complex in Monroe, La.

With the win FAU (2-8-1, 1-3-1 SBC) snapped an eight-match winless streak and puts itself back into position to qualify for the eight-team Sun Belt Conference postseason tournament, which takes place November 5-8 in Denton, Texas.

ULM (4-7-1, 1-3-1 SBC) scored three goals in the first half to take a 3-0 lead after 39 minutes of play.

"Figuring we were down three and not having a scoring touch, we were pretty dejected," admitted FAU head coach Brian Dooley about the opening stages of Friday night's match.

However, Jannica Tjeder scored moments after ULM's third goal and Kendall Kravec added another - all in a 22-second span - cutting the ULM lead to 3-2 before the intermission.

Seven minutes out of the half Tjeder scored the game-tying goal following a failed clearance. The game-winner came two minutes later when Ashley Mannarino netted the go-ahead score thanks to an assist from senior teammate Natalie D'Oria.

"We did everything right for the first 40 minutes, but just didn't finish," ULM head coach Stacy Lamb said. "We have to learn how to win games instead of just play well to begin them."

FAU next faces the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

Dooley and FAU's 2-8-1 start to the 2008 season is truly unusual. Dooley entered the year owning a career winning percentage of nearly 70%, including guiding FAU to eight consecutive winning seasons.

"If we win Sunday we can be 2-3-1 in Sun Belt play," says Dooley. "That would be a better league start then last year, which would be huge for us considering all we have been through."
