Owls Sweep Away Jaguars

MOBILE, AL (April 1, 2007) - Mandie Fishback hit a two-run home run and Amy Bukovich added a two-out RBI single in the sixth as the Florida Atlantic University softball team edged South Alabama 3-2 at Jaguar Field in Mobile, AL on Sunday.
Fishback drove a ball deep to left center after Jenna Lopez beat out a bunt back to the mound for FAU's first hit of the game in the third inning.
The home run came after the Jaguars had loaded the bases with no one out in the bottom of the second, but was able to score just one run after Musillo got a strikeout and two ground balls back to the mound to evade further damage.
South Alabama tied the game at two on a solo home run by Kait Chernomaz, but the Owls sprang back in front on a two-out RBI single by Amy Bukovich. Musillo (10-7) would close the door the rest of the way, striking out the side in the seventh to finish with 10.
FAU (23-14, 5-4 SBC) climbs over .500 in conference play for the first time in 2007. The team will have an off day on Monday before facing Alabama and Northwestern State on Tuesday.
