BOCA RATON, FL - This Friday the Florida Atlantic University football team held its second practice of the spring. The non pads workout showed signs of the team becoming more familiar with each other and the coaching staff.
Several technique oriented drills highlighted the beginning of the session. Offensive players practiced items such as ball-handling routes and blocking schemes. On defense, areas such as the proper stance and jump tackles were key early elements of the afternoon.
In the seven-on-seven drill, Gedel Merzius batted a few thrown passes. Rusty Smith found DiIvory Edgecomb in the flat on a play that gained 20 yards.
On a rain soaked field special teams worked on field goals. Warley Leroy booted a 35-yard-field goal with room to spare.
On Saturday the team will have its first full-pad workout. The session is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m.
