Florida Atlantic University sophomore Brandi Prather was named Sun Belt Runner of the Week, the conference office announced Tuesday.
The sophomore from Orlando ran the second fastest 100-meter dash time in program history (11.83 seconds) in addition to winning the 200-meter dash in a time of 25.12 seconds. Prather's performance is made even more impressive because of the cold, wet conditions at the UCF Invitational, which was FAU's first outdoor meet of the year.
Head Track Coach Alex Smolka expressed his excitement over Prather's recognition.
"It is our first track honor in the new conference, and Brandi was excited that she ran so well."
The Owls resume their outdoor season this weekend when they travel to Miami to take part in the Hurricane Invitational.
