The Florida Atlantic University football team held their second practice on Friday outside the Tom Oxley Athletic Center. The Owls now have two weeks to prepare for their first bowl game in school history as they face Memphis in the R + L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.
The first team offense and defense practiced against each other during team drills. The first unit saw very limited time, but on the first play, Rusty Smith fired long and hit his main target Cortez Gent who adjusted to make a very nice catch at midfield. The team drills were hard-hitting, as the second and third teams saw plenty of reps. As Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger takes advantage of the extra practice time to get a look at the second and third string players. Alfred Morris was one of the players who practiced well, as from his running back position he broke loose for a few large gains from scrimmage.
FAU will face Memphis in the R + L Carriers New Orleans Bowl on December 21 at 8 p.m. Ticket packages are on sale now and are available at the FAU ticket office. All proceeds from tickets bought from FAU go directly to its athletics department. FAU gets none of the proceeds from tickets purchased through any other source.
