MOBILE, AL - The Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team began a two-game conference road trip to Alabama with a 1-1 tie against the University of South Alabama Friday night.
Both goals occurred relatively early in the contest, with the Jaguars striking first on a free kick by Sam Slover in the 12th minute. It was the first goal of the season for the sophomore defender, giving USA a momentary 1-0 lead.
Senior forward Alicia Tirelli answered for the Owls just seven minutes later, notching her team-leading fifth goal on the year. Fellow senior Monique Cabrera contributed her first assist in 2007 on the equalizer.
FAU once again generated far more scoring chances than its opponent, including a 10-2 advantage on shots in the second half. Susanna Lehtinen led the team with five shots, as well as four on goal for the night. Anhnhi Tran added four shots (three on goal), helping build a 20-7 overall shot advantage for the Owls.
Florida Atlantic (5-7-2, 2-4-1 Sun Belt) concludes weekend action with a showdown in Troy on Sunday at 1 p.m.
