MIAMI, FL - The Florida Atlantic University volleyball team fell to Florida International in three games (20-30, 22-30, 23-30) Tuesday night. Casey LaRocca got the Owls out to a fast start in game one, serving FAU to a quick 4-0 lead. Florida International responded with a 16-6 run to take the lead. The Owls returned the favor with a 6-1 rally that pulled them within one. The Golden Panthers then closed on a 13-4 run to take the first game.
Game two started out in a similar manner as Natalia Valentin served the Golden Panthers out to a 4-0 lead before FAU answered to tie the game at seven. Florida International took another sizable lead at 14-10 before the Owls managed to knot the game up at 16. The two teams traded the next four points before Florida International ended the game on a 12-4 run take a 2-0 lead.
The Golden Panthers grabbed control early on game three as Mariana Drumeva and Anita Szymanska both had extended serving runs as Florida International clinched the match with a 30-23 game three victory.
FAU falls to 6-10 on the year and 3-3 in Sun Belt matches. The Owls travel to Denver to face the Pioneers on Friday. The match is scheduled for a 9 p.m. eastern start
