TALLAHASSEE, FL - Playing without its no. 1 player, Florida Atlantic University's men's tennis team (1-1) fell to no. 15 ranked Florida State University (3-0) 5-0, Saturday morning.
The team of Karol Szmurlo and Corey Smith pushed their double match to 8-5 before the Owls lost the doubles point. The two teams then moved to singles only to see the Seminoles take the first four matches in straight sets to take the first match of the morning.
Olivier Sanjous, currently ranked no. 63 nationally, did not make the Saturday match due to his participation in the Delray Beach ATP pre-qualifying event. He is the second FAU player to advance as a wildcard. Daniel Dauber was the first in 2000.
FAU is also scheduled to play Furman, ranked no. 71 nationally, and Georgia State.
