TALLAHASSEE, FL - The Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team challenged Furman University, ranked no. 71 nationally, before the Paladins picked up the deciding match to defeat FAU 4-3 in Tallahassee, on Sunday.
The Owls traveled to Tallahassee for the weekend to face 15th ranked Florida State, 71st ranked Furman and Georgia State.
On Saturday FAU fell to host FSU 5-0 at the FSU Speicher Tennis Center, but returned on Sunday to play twice.
The FAU versus Furman match opened with the Paladins capturing the doubles point. The two teams then split the singles points to give Furman the match.
Olivier Sajous, who joined the team late due to his participation in the Delray Beach ATP stop, was victorious at no. 1 singles in straight sets as did Corey Smith playing no. 2 singles. The Owls picked up its third point at no. 5 singles.
FAU returned to the court late Sunday to face Georgia State.
