After an outstanding showing at the U.S. Swimming National Championships in early August, Florida Atlantic University's Ellie Weberg has been selected to the 2007 World University Games. In April, she will travel to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, CO before heading to the World University Games next August in Bangkok, Thailand.
"Making the roster of the World University Games in Bangkok will obviously help Ellie maintain her focus, not only for the NCAA collegiate season, but the all important long-course season prior to the games in August," said head coach Steve Eckelkamp. "This experience will help Ellie's exposure to international competition and to help her prepare for the 2008 Olympic trials."
Weberg (Bloomington, MN) is a two-time All-American after she placed fourth in both the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke at the 2006 NCAA Championships. This summer she participated in the National Championships where she placed fifth in the 100-meter breaststroke and seventh in the 200-meter breaststroke.
