The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team starts play in the Atlantic Soccer Conference on Friday when play host to Longwood.
The Owls will be seeking to rebound from a disappointing week in which it lost two matches. A third match against Central Connecticut State was called in the 51st minute due to lightning. The Owls led 1-0 at the time of the stoppage.
Longwood will be FAU's first opponent in the Atlantic Soccer Conference after spending 13 years in the Atlantic Sun Conference. Head Coach Kos Donev is optimistic about his team's chances in its new league.
"It's difficult to come into a new conference, but we feel that we can be competitive right away."
The Owls' preconference schedule has been difficult as well. FAU's match against Jacksonville University on Sunday will be its eighth match in 17 days.
"The schedule has really tested our depth," head coach Kos Donev said, "but I think it will pay off in the long run."
Friday is Faculty/Staff Appreciation Day at the FAU Men & Women's Soccer games. All faculty and staff will receive a special $1.00 off discount at the gate, will have the opportunity to participate in special game day promotions, contests, and win prizes. The action starts with the womnen's match versus Middle Tennessee State at 5:30 p.m., followed by the men taking on Longwood.
Owls fans can catch all the action live via the GameTracker feature, accessible from the schedule page. Each game is also video streamed on a tape-delay as part of the FAU All-Access package.
