The Florida Atlantic University men's soccer team will travel to DeLand, FL on Thursday, in the third road game of the season.
Despite going winless in their two games last weekend, there were bright spots for the Owls. Freshman goalkeeper Phillip Lamarre and senior midfielder Ran Poliker were named to the All-Tournament team.
"We lost both games but those two players showed the consistent type of play that we want on the team. Phil, being a freshman, playing in his first collegiate games, played very well. Ran was a big factor in trying to keep everyone motivated. He was a big presence in the midfield", said Head Coach Kos Donev.
This week's match will be the 30th meeting in a series that dates back to 1980. FAU leads the all-time series 18-9-2. For the first time since 1992, the Hatters will be a non-conference opponent for FAU.
Donev said, "Although Stetson lost their first two games, they are the defending Atlantic Sun Conference champions, so they are a very good team. They also just put lights in their stadium, so they will be looking forward to their first game under the lights."
This is also the last of three consecutive road matches to open the season for the Owls. The home opener will be on September 8th against Mercer.
