Salberg Strikes Out 11 in 6-3 Win

Chris Salberg struck out a career-high 11 batters and the Florida Atlantic University offense produced 12 hits, including a 3-for-4 performance from William Block, to defeat the University of North Florida 6-3 on Saturday afternoon at Harmon Stadium.
Salberg threw 6 2/3 innings to improve to 3-4 on the year. He allowed six hits and struck out 11. The junior left-hander struck out the side in the fifth inning after giving up three doubles in the fourth.
North Florida (14-12, 7-4 A-Sun) struck with the first run of the contest in the first inning after Salberg allowed two walks. FAU would then tie the game in the top of the second on singles from Anthony Albano and Block. A Jordan Hafer two-run homer in the third gave the Owls the lead that the team did not relinquish.
Albano led off the fourth with a double and came around to score on a Block single. An unearned run in the fifth gave Salberg a 5-3 led before he exited.
Chris Eberhart entered in relief and did not allow a runner on base in his 1 1/3 innings before Mike Crotta pitched the ninth to earn his fourth save of the year. Crotta struck out the side in the ninth
Hafer, Ovy Ramirez and Block each finished with two RBI in the win that tied the conference series at one.
Ryan Amason (3-2) suffered the loss for the Ospreys after allowing five runs on nine hits in four innings.
The UNF offense was led by a 3-for-4 performance from Jonathon Hodach.
The two teams will vie for the series win in the rubber match on Sunday at 1 p.m.
