Owls Travel to Louisiana

BOCA RATON, FL (October 3, 2006) - Continuing a season of firsts, the Florida Atlantic University women's soccer team will travel to Louisiana this week to face two more Sun Belt Conference foes.
FAU (4-6-2, 1-3-0 SBC) will face Louisiana-Lafayette on Friday at 8 p.m., before heading to Louisiana-Monroe on Sunday for a 1 p.m. start.
The Owls have never faced ULM, though they have faced ULL at home, picking up a victory, 3-0 on opening day 2004 in the only previous meeting between the two schools.
The Ragin' Cajuns are 5-5-2 on the year, including a 2-2-0 conference mark. ULL is coming off a 2-1 double-overtime win over Arkansas State on October 1 and a 3-2 overtime win versus UALR on September 29.
ULM (4-8-1) has been outscored 25-16 on the year, but the Warhawks have played .500 at home at 3-3-1.
Sara Islas leads the way with five goals and 11 points on offense, with Allison Matson (3g,2a) is second on the team with eight points. Megan Moore and Britnie Markham are the other Warkhawks with more than one goal, each with two.
Mallory George will likely get the start in net. She's made 12 starts on the year, giving up 18 goals for a 1.54 goals-against average. She's made 87 saves while posting a 4-7-1 record and a pair of shutouts.
ULM is 0-4-0 in SBC play, and has been shut out in each of its previous three contests.
The Owls are led on offense by Alicia Tirelli and Susanna Lehtinen. Both are tied atop the team in goals with five, while Tirelli has three assists and Lehtinen one for a total of 13 and 11 points, respectively. Tessa McGarrity and Natalie D'Oria are the other Owls with multiple goals at two apiece.
Jessica Badders and Megan Coyne continue to share time in goal. Badders leads the duo with a 1.45 goals-against average, making 28 saves in 560:00 played. Coyne owns a 1.89 goals-against average in 571:08 played, while making 24 saves. The pair has combined to post two shutouts.
