BOCA RATON, FL - The Florida Atlantic University Owls took the practice field on Thursday for the final full practice session before homecoming weekend. FAU will take on Arkansas State (5-2) on Saturday at Lockhart Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m.
"We need to make sure we don't let any more games get away from us," said defensive lineman Josh Pinnick. "The conference is still wide open."
Practice began with goal-line plays, followed by situationals and the two-minute drill. The day ended with kick-off and punt returns as well as blocks.
Arkansas State defeated North Texas 29-10 last Saturday. The Indians have one of the Sun Belt's leading rushers in Reggie Arnold. The redshirt freshman has 643 yards on the ground with four touchdowns. Quarterback Corey Leonard has 739 passing yards to go along with four touchdowns on the season. On defense, Koby McKinnon has 32 tackles and two sacks at the linebacker position.
Fans can tune in on the radio at WNJA 640 AM or WPSL 1590 AM for live coverage or log on at www.fausports.com.
FAU will return for full practice on Tuesday at 3:30 pm.
Notes: Coach Schnellenberger welcomes Owl fans to join him for breakfast at 8 a.m., Friday, Oct.27 in the Founders' Lounge located on the second floor of the Tom Oxley Center. Fans will be able to ask questions, hear from players, and get the inside scoop on what to expect on Saturday.
A new tradition was formed today with students, cheerleaders, and the band coming together to cheer on the Owl's before their homecoming game at practice. Coach Schnellenberger hopes to keep this tradition alive for future seasons.
