After two days off and with cooler weather, the Florida Atlantic University football team practiced on Tuesday with added intensity as it gears up for Arkansas State in its Homecoming game on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Lockhart Stadium.
"It has been a straight shot since Aug. 10 without any breaks," said Howard Schnellenberger. "It is nice to get rest whenever we can. We have utilized our time well this week by practicing on Friday and Saturday before taking Sunday and Monday off."
The Owls worked against the scout team before running 10 plays in a scrimmage format. The no. 1 defense held the no. 1 offense in-check before the no. 2 offense moved the ball on the no. 2 defense. Rusty Smith teamed with Avery Holley on two plays for a gain of 25 yards and Willie Floyd had two runs for 20 yards.
At the game on Saturday, the inaugural FAU Hall of Fame class will be recognized along with the 2006 Atlantic Sun Champion women's basketball team and student-athletes earning a 3.0 G.P.A.
