BOCA RATON, FL - On Monday afternoon Florida Atlantic University football held their last full practice session of the week. The Owls (2-4) are set to take on Louisiana-Lafayette (3-2) on Wednesday night at 7:30 p.m. The nationally telecast game on ESPN2 will take place at Lockhart Stadium, in Fort Lauderdale, FL.
"Beating Louisiana-Lafayette was one of the high point of our season last year," said Head Coach Howard Schnellenberger. " They've really gotten really good since that game and are very a solid football team."
Practice began with short-yardage plays, followed by situationals and the two-minute drill. The day ended with kick-off and punt returns as well as blocks.
Louisiana-Lafayette defeated Houston in its last game 31-28, on October 7th. The Ragin' Cajuns have an 11 day break until they play the Owls. This will mark the first conference game for Louisiana-Lafayette this season. They are lead by sophomore running-back Tyrell Fenroy who has 393 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the year. Their QB Jerry Babb is a dual threat to score, having both four rushing and four passing touchdowns. On the defensive side of the ball, Lamar Morgan leads the squad with 27 tackles.
The game will be telecast across the nation on ESPN2. Fans can also tune in on the radio at WNJA 640 AM or WPSL 1590 AM for live coverage. FAU will hold a team walk-through on Tuesday afternoon.
Notes: Coach Schnellenberger welcomes Owl fans to join him for breakfast at 8 a.m., Tuesday, Oct.17 in the Founders' Lounge located on the second floor of the Tom Oxley Center. Ask questions, hear from players, and get the inside scoop on what to expect on Wednesday.
