Though the Florida Atlantic University men's tennis team dropped a 7-0 decision to No. 62 Southern Alabama on Tuesday, the team and head coach David Komie remain in high spirits.
"Hats off to South Alabama coach Scott Novak for such a strong team. When push came to shove they shoved us around to get it done. I look forward to coming back to FAU and working hard the rest of the season. This was a successful road trip and has us ready for the Atlantic Sun season," said Komie.
The Owls opened their season with three very difficult non-conference opponents, facing some of the nation's best talent, a task that is never easy, but usually beneficial later in the season.
The bright spots for the Owls on Tuesday included David Demers taking Monte Tucker to three sets in the no. 2 position.
J.P. Bounassar dropped his first single's match of the 2006 season when he was defeated by Jack Baker in straight sets.
The Owls head to Coral Gables, FL to take on the Hurricanes of Miami on Saturday, January 28 at noon before returning home for seven-consecutive home matches and the start of A-Sun play.
