Belmont Ends Three Game Winning Steak

BOCA RATON, FL - Shontavia Williams moved into fourth-place on the all-time scoring list, but that was the lone bright spot for as Florida Atlantic University fell to Belmont, 71-50, on Thursday night.
The Bruins connected on 46.9% (15-32) in the first half to build a, 39-20, lead at the break. Alysha Clark led Belmont with 12 points in the frame to go along with eight rebounds.
Susan Beauzil ended a seven-minute scoreless streak for the Owls, as she converted a lay-up to cut the lead to, 28-13, at the 5:30 mark.
The Bruins used their size advantage to exploit the Owls. They took down 32 rebounds in the frame and score 22 points in the paint in the paint. Belmont came into the night as the top rebounding team in the conference with 41.5 boards per game.
FAU went on an 8-0 run to start the second half to make the score, 39-26, at the 14:55 mark. Sharia Young nailed a triple to cut the lead to nine, 47-38, with 10:58 to play.
The Owls never got any closer as they shot 32.3% from the floor and lost the rebounding battle, 48-32.
Clark led all scorers with 23 points to go along with 10 boards. Jessica Bobbitt also posted a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Williams led FAU with 10 points and now has 1,174 career points, passing Tamala Vaughn on the career scoring list. She is just three-points shy of moving into third-place all-time.
