BOCA RATON, FL -- The perfect season continued on Saturday for the Florida Atlantic University volleyball team as they defeated conference foe Mercer 3-0.
The Owls (13-0) picked up their first conference win of the season thanks in part to a .579 hitting percentage in the third game.
Kelly Paiva lead the Owls with 24 kills in the match. Katie Arvidson (15 kills) and Justine Petry (13 kills) chipped in as well. Petry hit a sparkling .600 for the match.
Leading FAU on the defensive end was Makra Condill with 16 digs. Dimitra Samas and Paiva each had 10.
Thanks to a .405 hitting percentage and holding Mercer to just .027 in game one, the Owls had the early lead. Game two was a struggle for both squads, but FAU once again came out on top to earn a strangle-hold on the match.
FAU sealed the deal with their offensive efficiency in game three, converting on 26 attacks while making just two errors.
The Owls will put their perfect record on the line Thursday, Sept. 29, when they travel to Jersey City, NJ to play St. Peter's. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
