BOCA RATON, FL- The running game was a main focal point for Florida Atlantic University during Wednesday's practice at the Tom Oxley Athletic field.
After running for 51-yards on 5 carries against Oklahoma State, Owls' fullback, Dominick Walker showed good explosiveness during practice.
The Owls (0-2) know the importance of establishing a running attack. "We have to run the ball in order to win football games," said offensive linemen Nello Faulk.
FAU may be facing its toughest opponent of the season on Saturday, when they take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers at the Metrodome. "Minnesota brings maturity and experience into the game, but we will be ready to play," said head coach Howard Schnellenberger.
The Gophers (2-0) will be the third non-conference opponent the Owls will face this season. Florida Atlantic is excited about playing top tier competition. "We are up for the game. We are more focused and know we need to eliminate mental mistakes," said Faulk.
The Owls and Gophers will kickoff at 8:30 p.m. EST on Saturday.
