Florida Atlantic University's swim team swept Sun Belt Conference Swimmer-of-the-Week honors as Pavel Babaev and Jessica Lampkin received the honor as announced by the conference office on Tuesday.
Babaev (Fort Myers, FL) won both the 50 and 100 free and helped the 200 free and 200 medley relays to wins as FAU defeated the University of Tampa in the final meet of the season last Saturday. The junior swam a 21.62 in the 50 free and touched the wall in 47.71 in the 100 free. The 200 medley relay posted a time of 1:48.80 while the 200 free relay closed out the meet with a time of 1:25.86.
A freshman from New Port Richey, FL, Lampkin won both the 50 and 100 free in a dual meet against Tampa and the University of Miami. She also helped guide the 200 free and 200 medley relays to victories. She posted a season-best 53.07 in the 100 free to beat her closest competitor by 1.5 seconds. Her time in the 50 free (24.87) was .2 seconds off of her season-best from November. In the 200 free relay she posted a time of 23.5 as the team finished the event in 1:38.24, while the 200 medley relay won with a time of 1:48.80.
The teams are preparing for their first Sun Belt Conference Championships which are being held on February 17-19 in Little Rock, AR.
