Coming off of a two-point win on Wednesday night, Florida Atlantic University's men's basketball team heads into Sunday's contest against Jacksonville University with a 1-2, 1-0 Atlantic Sun Conference record. The Dolphins and Owls will square off at 2 pm on Sunday in FAU Arena.
JU (1-2, 1-0 A-Sun) defeated cross-town rival North Florida on Friday evening, 88-71 for new head coach Cliff Warren's first career win. Jesse Kimbrough posted career numbers in the victory with 25 points and 10 rebounds. He added seven assists and leads the conference with 7.00 assists per game.
The loss was the second in the A-Sun for UNF. The Ospreys suffered a two-point loss to FAU on Wednesday.
DeAndre Rice leads Florida Atlantic with 20.5 points per game, while Rodney Webb averages 8.7 rebounds per game to rank third in the A-Sun and adds 12.7 points per game.
Brent Crews holds an assist to turnover ratio of 11.00. He has committed only one turnover while dishing out 11 assists.
FAU is in search of back-to-back home wins for the first time since the program defeated Mary Washington (12/29/03) and Mercer (1/5/04) two seasons ago.
The Dolphins hold a 12-6 series advantage. Against JU last February, the Owls secured a 100-73 victory. It is the last time the team has reached the century mark in a contest. In the two previous meetings the Owls dropped two one-point contests at home to the Dolphins.
The game will be carried live on WLVJ 1040 AM and on www.fausports.com. The play-by-play will be handled by Evan Cohen, from ESPN 760 AM.
Season Tickets are available at $96 for adults and $68 for youth, senior citizens and FAU employees. Single game tickets are $10 for adults and $7 for students.
