Boca Raton - Florida Atlantic University will tip-off the 2005-2006 season Nov. 18 at Colgate under the direction of head coach Matt Doherty. For the first time in the program's 17-year history the Owl fans will be treated to end-to-end basketball coverage on WLVJ 1040AM. Evan Cohen, a drive-time host on ESPN 760, will provide the play-by-play coverage for all home, away and post-season games.
"We are extremely excited to have all of our games broadcast live on WLVJ 1040AM. It will provide the community of Boca Raton the opportunity to check in on FAU basketball even if they cannot make it to the game," said Doherty. "Evan comes to us with wonderful credentials and will provide a knowledgeable perspective on the game as he has considerable basketball experience. This is another exciting beginning for FAU basketball."
FAU welcomed Cohen to the 2005 football broadcast team as a sideline and play-by-play reporter. The New Yorker native has made a name for himself as the afternoon drive host of ESPN Radio 760's Palm Beaches Gameday (Monday - Friday, 4pm-6pm). In addition to hosting a show for ESPN Radio 760, Cohen covers the Miami Dolphins, Miami Heat and Florida Marlins for the station. He can be seen Sunday nights at 11:30 on WPTV News Channel 5's "Five Sports Live".
Prior to ESPN Radio 760 Evan Cohen worked at ESPN Radio 1070 and 1310 WIBA-AM in Madison, Wisconsin. While in Madison, Cohen hosted ''SportsCentral,'' served as the pre and post game host for Wisconsin men's basketball and was a broadcast assistant for Learfield Sports on the Wisconsin Radio Network. In addition, he was the UW men's hockey beat reporter for the Madison Capital Times and the Associated Press. He also served as a freelance reporter for the ''Bo Ryan Show'' and "The Badger Sports Report" on the CBS affiliate, WISC-TV.
Not only will fans be able to listen to the game locally but, the game will also be carried on fausports.com and home games will also be shown as a video streaming feature through the all-sports pass.
